Questions
How does the Product Hunt rank predictor work?
It runs a gradient-boosted tree model (XGBoost) trained on 9,304 featured Product Hunt launches from Jan 2025 to Jul 2026. You describe the launch, it predicts the daily rank, then re-runs the model with one change at a time to show which changes would move you up.
How accurate is it?
On launches it never saw during training, its typical error is about 7 rank positions. Treat the number as a planning estimate, and use the what-if list to compare options rather than as a promise.
What matters most for Product Hunt rank?
In this model, the hunter carries 38% of the prediction, the topics 18%, the launch day 18% and the makers 11%. Copy, links and media make up most of the rest.
Do I need a hunter to launch on Product Hunt?
No, you can post your own launch. The tool compares both: pick "Self-hunt" to score your launch on your own reach, then try a hunter to see the difference. The hunter finder lists active hunters with their real results.
Is my launch data stored?
No. The model runs in your browser. The only request we make is a Product Hunt follower lookup when you type a username, and we do not save it.
